Running your first mile is an amazing achievement.
With so many of you starting your running journey today, it may seem a daunting prospect to get to 5K, 10K or even just one mile! Fear not, we have all been there, and we’ve all had the same feelings, ambitions, fears, and excitement.
To reach any goal, especially your first mile and 5K as a runner, you need to take it a day at a time! The first inch is literally the most difficult as you have to convince yourself to get off that lovely warm couch, put on your shoes, and go into the cold evening air into the unknown. To help you with this, we are putting the finishing touches on our “Run Republic Couch to 5K” eBook which we’ll be putting online tomorrow.
The key thing you need for this running journey is belief, commitment, and patience. There will be days where it will feel like you’re not making progress, but you have to stick with it, it will be worth it in the end!
Today, don’t worry about setting a 5K goal, or 10K goal, plan on running your first mile in the next two weeks. When you can do that, then start planning your 5K goals. We will be with you offering help and advice when you need it.
