Hi My name is Yvonne, an Engineer and runner from Drogheda County Louth. I’m thrilled to be writing a new weekly blog for Run Republic. I will tell you my running journey, my issues with pelvic health, and my company EVB Sport (evbsport.com).
I am a recreational runner and stumbled into the field of womens health.
“The highs of physical therapy are higher than any I will ever feel in another job in my life”………….”We genuinely enjoy helping others, and it makes us feel like a million bucks to be part of a patient’s recovery story”.
My 1st choice for College back in the day was Physiotherapy. I would dream at night about running onto the football pitch to attend to Colm Coyle. Or the rest of the Meath Lads back in the 90’s.(I’m originally from Navan – but please don’t hold that against me!). But I didn’t get the points and ended up with Engineering in Trinity.
I stumbled into the field of women’s health when after taken up training for a marathon too soon after baby no 3 I realised my pelvic floor muscles were shot!!! I set about creating a company to ensure that no woman would feel as bad as I did on that particular 18 mile training run! EVB Sport an activewear company was born and since then we have gained recognition from International Women’s Health Physios and Gynaecologists and Doctors from all over the world, Won Dragons Den back in 2014, received European Recognition By being a European Finalist for Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards etc etc.
I think I was born to be in the caring profession and the comment above about the Highs are exactly what keep me going. I just wanted to reach out to say I think you are doing really amazing work and we love to promote conservative treatment where we can to our customers. We are always looking to promote blogs or content on our website and on our social media channels. If you would like more information about us please email Jo on [email protected]. We can send you samples or literature and any other information you might need.
The ethos of our company is #DrivingChange to make life easier for people. We want to improve pelvic health for the next generation. Please get in touch if you have any ideas or if we can help you. We know this is a profession that aligns so clearly with our ethos.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Have a great weekend

Monthly video Q&A with Internationally renowned women’s health physiotherapist Michelle Lyons- getting the public to ask us questions that are concerning them. The idea is to promote awareness and to give confidence to our community to get their niggles looked at earlier. Not to wait until crisis point and make your job as a health care professional harder
