Kate is Ready to Go!

Kate O’Connor, Irish heptathlete, took part in the Irish Life Health Junior Championships today (6th of July) and showed that she is an athlete in superb form.
She heads off to Boras in Sweden for the European Junior Championships later this month.
Today she ran the 200m in 24.88, was just short of 6m in the long jump (5.98m) and threw the javelin a massive 49m.
Her hard work is obviously paying off and hopefully Kate, one of Ireland’s most promising young athletes, can put it all together in Sweden.
In 2018 she proved she is not daunted by the big occasion when she performed really well aged 17 at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Since then, records have been falling left right and centre.
Level headed and with a friendly personality, Kate also has a role this year as ambassador for the Belfast International athletics meeting.
Then in August she will leave to take up an athletics scholarship at University of Texas.
