County Novice Cross Country Moyglass
Sunday 4th of October 2015 was a very successful day for the club with 2 great individual wins by Joe Egan and Sarah Corcoran and great team performances all round. The first race of the day was the Girls U10 800metres and Sarah Corcoran came through the field well to a great win followed in by Ciara Shelly in 3rd place with Rebbecca Dannaher in 12th & Emma Corcoran in 15th these four combined very well to win the gold medals in the team event, not to be outdone Sophie Coughlan in 15th led home the B team which won the bronze medals alongside Lauren Maher in 17th & Jane Corcoran in 20th, Caitlin Shelly in 24th, Katelyn Flanagan in 29th & Aoife Shelly in 33rd. In the Boys U10 Daire O’Donnell led the team home in 6th place, followed by Cillian Doran in 9th , Tom Ryan in 16th , Mark Drohan in 40th & Fíachra Johnston in 46th The boys all ran very well in the team just finishing outside the medal placings in 5th. In the Girls U12 the distance moved up to 2000 metres they had a tough hill to contend with also but our runners ran well nonetheless and first home for the club was Aedeín Johnstone in 19th, followed by Lucy O’Keefe in 28th & Shauna Flanagan in 30th. In the Boys U12 Joe Egan led the club home with a great win followed by Oisín Martin in 21st & Ronan O’Dwyer in 23rd unfortunately they were one short to score in the team event but they all battled hard. In the Boys U16 race they had 4,000m to run and here we had Ben O’Dwyer first home for the club in 10th place followed by Bill O’Keefe in 18th place to round off a great days running for the club and to many it was their debut running in this event and a special well done to all who were out running in the red and black stripes for the first time hope everyone enjoyed the day. In the Mens Novice event of 6,000m Paddy Cummins led the team home in 7th place with a pb to boot, next in was Sean Healy followed by Paul Bowe unfortunately they were one short to score in the team event but great running by all nonetheless. The last race of the day was the Senior Mixed open 6k event open to anyone who was ineligible to run the Novice here Shane Mullaney dusted away a few cobwebs in 3rd place, Well done to all who ran on the day and thanks to Moyglass A.C. on a well run event, Our next outing will be the Intermediate and Uneven Ages Cross Country on the 18th of October held on home turf at the Turnpike Middlepiece grounds with kind permission of Donal Hayes & family it should be a great event and we encourage as many to take part as possible it would be great also if we could field teams both in the mens & womens senior event too and to the general public come out and see some great cross country action.. We will also be looking for help to set up the course many hands make light work, Any help welcome.
Walking the Camino
Best of luck to Fr.Joe Tynan a regular runner in our Fit4life group who on Monday October 5th will begin trekking 100km of the Camino de Santiago de Compestella in Spain in honour of the late Fr. Paudie Moloughney.
County Primary Schools Cross Country
Last week the County Primary Schools Cross Country attracted large numbers to the Thurles Crokes grounds on Wednesday 30th September and we had many athletes from the club representing schools such as Two-Mile-Borris, Littleton, Gaile, Pouldine ,Holycross & Thurles well done to all. Will have a detailed account of results next week.
FIT4LIFE
On Wednesdays we will be Fit4lifing in the field with our new floodlights come walk jog or run a few laps the outside lap is 400m & the inside 350m bring a friend set a goal in a fun environment Meeting Point is at the Moycarkey Community Sports Centre in Littleton. Saturdays are on the road over a 5k route which starts at 9am each session is just €2 For further information, contact Kay Cantwell at 086 8382517. JUVENILE CROSS COUNTRY TRAINING
Juvenile Cross Country Training for all age groups continues every Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8pm at our new field beside the Moycarkey Borris Community & Sports Centre. We have two lanes marked out, one for the younger age group & the second one for our older athletes. Parents are welcome to walk or jog the route themselves during training if they so wish. Cost is 2 euro per child.

Well done to Ken Maher and Daniel Ryan who completed an Athletics Leader course and to Paul Bowe who completed an Assistant Coaching course recently.
Clothing Collection
We hope to have our next clothing collection in November more details in the coming weeks if you have any clothes you no longer need get collecting now much appreciated.
Seán Doran 5k & 3k Run & Walk Please Support
On this Sunday 11th of October a 5k & 3K run and walk entitled Scamper against Cancer for Seán Doran – a brave young boy who is battling hard at the moment and could use all your support so why not walk or run either distance this Sunday registration is from 9:30am at the Community & Sports Centre in Littleton race start is at 11am big numbers are expected so get there early, entry is €10 and is free to children it promises to be a great day and fun for all the race is AAI approved. Refreshments afterwards at the Community & Sports Centre.
