Aaron Shorten 7th and a season's best in the Paralympic 1500m

It was seventh place and a seasons best in the T20 1500m today for Aaron Shorten (St Laurence O'Toole) on his paralympic debut. The tall Castledermot man expressed both elation and disappointment on his run. While he had hoped to run 3.55 he was optimistic that he will improve over the next four years and make it to LA in 2028. He was of course "over the moon" and honoured to be able to compete in his first paralympic games.

Orla Comerford - her third Paralympics

Orla Comerford (Raheney Shamrocks AC) will line up today for her third Paralympics. The T13 100m athlete has the fastest time this season at 11.90. A time she ran when competing at the All-Ireland Senior Track and Field Final in Santry in June. She has prepared well for this moment and wants nothing less than a medal from these games.

European Record for Paralympian Greta Streimikyte in Paris

Greta Streimikyte has set a new T13 1500m record at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. In her third paralympic appearance she finished 4th, the same position she finished in Rio in 2016. The three time paralympian declared that she needs to get herself out of the 4th/5th positioning, suggesting that perhaps she is willing to give another shot at the next Paralympics.
