Father Collins parkrun – Event number 147 – 14th July 2018
Another Saturday morning, another parkrun and another very warm morning for running. 23 degrees at 9 am with a beaming sun in the sky makes it warm in the park and would make you nearly miss the wet and cold mornings that we’ve had in the past and will probably have again in the not too distant future.
After a quick briefing from our Run Director Alan, off everyone went on their 5 km trip around the park. While we work our way around the route, we were (as always) cheered on by some of the volunteers while others got the finishing area ready and the very welcome cups of water ready at the finish for everyone. This week as our neighbouring parkrun at St Anne’s wasn’t going ahead, we were joined by some of their regulars. In total we had 94 people who ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 23 were first timers. We hope that you’ll all come back and visit us again in the near future. Despite the heat, there was a very impressive total of 16 recorded new Personal Bests and we had representatives of 8 different clubs who took part.
And the Aesthetically Pleasing Time of the Week (I know we haven’t had such an award in ages!) goes to Kevin Greene with a time and a PB of 23:23. Well done Kevin.
As always if we had no volunteers, we would have no parkrun so a big ‘thank you’ to our 11 volunteers: Alan FOLEY • Yvonne CLARKE • Mai BARRETT • Rachel MARKEY • Paddy RYAN • Linda SLATTERY • Theresa TAYLOR • Declan O RIORDAN • Guus LEEUW • P WORTHINGTON • Avegel ARCENO.
Remember folks, if you haven’t volunteered for parkrun in a few weeks or months, please do so as without volunteers, there will be no parkrun.
