This week 39 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 2 were first timers and 4 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 5 different clubs took part. That would be a brief description of parkrun number 149. But a true description would be that after endless days of sunshine and warm weather, the rain arrived and fell from the sky. And it rained and rained. It rained so hard that many thought that Rachel was Run Directing from an Ark behind the waterfall.
But Maebh was in charge this week and was aided by a great crew of volunteers who probably didn’t dry out until Sunday morning, such was the rain. With umbrellas and wet gear in hand, the volunteers did a brilliant job of keeping the show on the road in such awful conditions.
After a very brief briefing by Maebh, off everyone went through the rain and puddles. First male home was Darragh Sweeney in a new pb and first lady home was Leah Roche so well done to you both.
It was a very significant parkrun for one of our regular parkrunners and volunteers. Anton Sweeney came along to his first parkrun in early 2016 and two and a half years later, he completed his 100th parkrun. It is a great achievement for Anton and all the team at Father Collins parkrun congratulate him on this milestone. Anton, we hope to see you get another pb while wearing your new red parkrun tshirt in the very near future.
Also it would be remiss if we didn’t wish our great Event Director Alan a very happy and belated birthday. While we won’t give any how young he is, all we can say is that he’s in a new age group now.

The female record is held by Hannah OLDROYD who recorded a time of 17:30 on 18th June 2016 (event number 38).
The male record is held by Ray HYNES who recorded a time of 15:36 on 6th January 2018 (event number 121).
The Age Grade course record is held by Matt SHIELDS who recorded 88.68% (18:15) on 3rd October 2015 (event number 1).
Father Collins parkrun started on 3rd October 2015. Since then 2,040 participants have completed 10,303 parkruns covering a total distance of 51,515 km, including 1,889 new Personal Bests.
