Father Collins parkrun – Event number 151 – 11th August 2018

Yvonne stepped up as Run Director today and it was something of a family affair as her husband and fellow run director Phil, as well as her sister Denise, brother in law Alan and her lovely Mum Anne all opted for the high viz volunteer jackets. It was Anne’s 25th volunteer a great achievement. Well done Anne, we are all so grateful for all the help you have given us come hail, rain or occasionally sunshine! There were some very familiar faces also volunteering and helping Yvonne out, we are so lucky to have such a wonderful parkrun family!

The event was made possible by 11 volunteers: Alan GREHAN • Yvonne CLARKE • Denise GREHAN • Kevin GREENE • Phil CLARKE • Aoife NOLAN • Anne CRANLEY • Adrienne DELANEY • Ita O’HANLON • Bhaskar CHATTERJEE • Guus LEEUW

We are so grateful to our amazing parkrun volunteers – our high viz heroes without you guys none of the 84 people who ran, jogged and walked the course could have taken part in our free 5K event.

This week there were first timers and 11 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 13 different clubs took part.

Well done to the following on their PBS:

  1. Paul Walsh
  2. Raul Portales
  3. Fiona Bane
  4. Scott Campbell
  5. Andreea Bortas
  6. Robert McGregor
  7. Nathan Coulter
  8. Caroline Hickey
  9. Avegel Arceno
  10. Jackie Farell
  11. Liz O’Dwyer

In parkrun touring news three of us headed to Enniskillen parkrun today in an effort to collect the elusive letter e! The only other parkrun in Ireland that starts with an e is Erris in Mayo, needless to say this roadtrip north seemed a little more manageable. All the tourists and first timers were welcomed by the run director who announced we were from Bnagor and another few wee places… Oh how I missed our lovely flat parkrun as I ran over a bridge and up an awful hill at the side of a GAA pitch (three times I might add…) Fortunately with Maebh around Matt restrained himself and left the S-club 7 mix at home – we enjoyed a few episodes of West Cork on Audible, which I would thoroughly recommend although our touring plans to West Cork may have suffered a set back!

The stats from our own lovely event have not changed and the female record is held by Hannah OLDROYD who recorded a time of 17:30 on 18th June 2016 (event number 38).

The male record is held by Ray HYNES who recorded a time of 15:36 on 6th January 2018 (event number 121).

The Age Grade course record is held by Matt SHIELDS who recorded 88.68% (18:15) on 3rd October 2015 (event number 1).

Father Collins parkrun started on 3rd October 2015. Since then 2,063 participants have completed 10,470 parkruns covering a total distance of 52,350 km, including 1,911 new Personal Bests.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon,

Rachel
