O’Brien & Ryan Excel at SIAB Schools International

Training For Missed Workouts

The SIAB Schools U/17 Track & Field International was held in Grangemouth, Scotland on Saturday 18th July. A total of 7 gold, 5 silver & 12 bronze were won by the Irish team who finished 2nd overall behind England. Munster athletes took home 5 medals in total with 3 of them won by East Munster athletes. Orlaith O’Brien, Ursuline Waterford won gold in the Girls Javelin with a throw of 46.56 with double silver medals for Daniel Ryan, Thurles CBS in the Boys Long Jump (6.96m) & 100mH (13.25).

Other East Munster athletes who competed well in their events were David Ryan, Thurles CBS (4th Boys Long Jump with 6.86m), Anne Corcoran, Ursuline Waterford (6th Girls Shot Putt with 11.69m) & Diarmuid Clancy, Meanscoil San Nioclais (5th Boys 400mH in 59.13).

Other Munster medal winners were James French, Bandon Grammer School & Gearoid McMahon, St. Caimin’s Community College, Shannon who both won bronze medals in their events. Congratulations & well done to all of the Irish team.
