Bohermeen AC Promote the 34th Patrick Bell & Nicky Phillips memorial 5k run and walk on Friday June 7th at 8pm, the event is open to enter at www.myrunresults.com.
The event is unique as runners of all ages and abilities are lined up behind the starting line, of what is reputed to be one of the fastest 5k courses in the Leinster region. You can run it walk it at your own pace. The gantry start allows for everyone to get an accurate time from the time they cross the starting till they cross the finish line.
The event commemorates the late Patrick Bell and Nicky Phillips who were club members in the 1930s and 80s respectively. The late Patrick died in 1985 following a traffic accident at the age of 25, the late Nicky the Meath mile champion off 1930 was a father figure to many a budding juvenile athlete in the early 1970s following the revival of the club in 1969.
Todays event is a huge community effort with families adding to the atmosphere, open turf fires adds to the local culture of the event, the post race BBQ and live music is a perfect way to unwind with friends. We hope to please everyone, but this is not just ANOTHER 5K it a commemoration and celebration of two lives our club members and family members .There are the usual awards and Unique water bottle for the first 500 finishers, the awards same for men and ladies. 1st 6, 1st 3 Juniors , 1st 3 masters 0-40,45,50,55,60,65,70. Men’s AAI team for awards 3 x 4, Paddy Muratgh Cup 1st mens team of 6.Ladies AAI team 3 x 4 ,1st team of 4 receives the Mallon Cup.
As a club we really appreciate your attendance year in year out, we invest in grass roots athletics and as we head towards midsummer lets enjoy all these great Meath club promoted events. Each and every Meath athletic club have over the years have put their own personal stamp on their respective promotions, all with the athlete in mind.
The event is open to register at our timing partners www.myrunresults.com who have brought new standards to results and efficiency over the past few years in athletic timing, adult entry is 15 euro after May 31st it rises to 20 euro to encourage early entry. It is the responsibility of the entrant that they enter correctly and also to include their club when they enter.
