Warm up for the weekend of the Irish Open

A large turnout of parkrunners and parkwalkers for the run, over the weekend the Irish Open came to an Inishowen glowing in a heatwave.  Siobhan Quinn helped with warm up exercises and stretches before the run start.

This week 60 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 21 were first timers and 10 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 10 different clubs took part.

Ian McGilloway, a first-timer from Folkestone Running Club, came in four seconds below the male record of 17:54.

We welcomed visitors Martin Kelly and Colin Carnson to Buncrana.  Martin Kelly from Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club is one of a very small group of people who have run all 38 Dublin Marathons. Colin is based in Perth, Scotland.  Check out Colin’s journey @myscotlandparkrunjourney2018.

The event was made possible by 10 volunteers:

Jason LE MASURIER • Philip O’DWYER • Noreen TURNER • Ciara MC GEE • Shannon DOHERTY • Elizabeth MC DAID • Mary GRANT • Stephen DIGGIN • Alison BARDINI • Siobhan QUINN
