Parkrun Limerick
As with all our articles, we’re happy to point people towards local parkrun. Limerick’s edition is no different. Each week, they get on average of 100 runners making it an intimate, yet fun event. While records are hard to come by, the female record was set back in 2016 by Niamh de Hóra at 18:57. Oisin Spillane has set the male record at 15:22 in 2022.
The course itself is run on a mixture of tarmac paths and gravel paths. The run directors will detail the course on the morning of the parkrun, but it is 4 loops taking on a mixture of surfaces. For more information, check out their page on the Limerick Parkrun website HERE
The event takes place at The Boat House, University of Limerick, Limerick, V94 Y8X4. See Course page for more details.
What does it cost to join in?
Nothing – it’s free! but please register before your first run. Only ever register with parkrun once. Don’t forget to bring a printed copy of your barcode (request a reminder). If you forget it, you won’t get a time.
About Limerick Parkrun
Limerick parkrun is a FREE weekly 5km event for participants of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 9:30am in The Boat House, University of Limerick, Limerick, V94 Y8X4. It is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that’s for fun or as part of a training plan.
It offers an opportunity for all the local community, regardless of age or gender, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy this beautiful park and get physically active into the bargain. We want to encourage people to run, jog or walk together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE!
