Garrafrauns to Dunmore 6K

The Garrafrauns to Dunmore 6K Road Race is held each year on the Monday of the August Bank Holiday Weekend as part of the Dunmore Annual Festival Sport Day.

The Overall Male and Female Winners are presented with the James Murphy Cup’s. James Murphy 1880 – 1962 is originally from Lissyconnor, Dunmore. James Murphy was a champion runner who won several races in Ireland & the UK including Irish & UK National Titles In 1908 he was a finalist in the Olympic games in London. Please see a more detailed biography of James below. He is granduncle to Gabriel Murphy & Family, Church Street and USA who each year generously donate the overall winners trophies.
