🌄 2025 Claragh Mountain Trail Run – Challenge Yourself on Claragh Mountain! 🏞️

Join us for an exciting trail run at Claragh Mountain in Millstreet, Co. Cork, as part of the Munster Sunday League. This 7km route offers a blend of forest paths and mountain trails, making it a great race for those looking for a moderate challenge in a scenic location.

🎽 Event Overview:

Distance: 7 km with 340 meters of ascent

Difficulty: Moderate terrain with 200-500 meters of ascent, suitable for runners with some trail experience

Race Marking: Only major junctions marked

GPS Allowed: Yes

Entries typically open a few weeks before the event.

Level B - Standard Kit:

Waterproof jacket

Hat or buff

Gloves

Whistle

Charged mobile phone with emergency number stored

Foil blanket, bivvy bag, or equivalent

Please ensure you bring all the required kit. Random checks will be carried out, and failure to carry the required items could lead to disqualification.

🚗 Getting There:

Location: Claragh Mountain, Millstreet, Co. Cork

Directions: Car park and registration are located opposite St. Patrick’s Church, on the main road (R582) through Millstreet.

📝 Route Description:
The race starts on Claragh Road (opposite the car park) heading south. After approximately 800 meters, turn left onto a narrow road. After another 600 meters, take a right turn onto a forest path. The path zigzags up through the forest and exits through a stile on your left. Follow the path, keeping the forest to your right, until you reach a gate that leads to the open mountain. From there, follow the narrow path to the summit, turn left, and head straight back down to intersect your uphill route. Finish by following your path back to the start.
