Countdown to race day!

The popular Rudolph Run 10k and 5k road race is back on Saturday 7th December 12 noon at Eskra Community Centre, Co Tyrone. The annual festive event is organised by Knockmany Running Club and Eskra Community Association and is now a long-established fixture in the road racing calendar, last time attracting over 700 participants from across the country.

Brendan Murphy (Strabane Triathlon Club) is the defending 10k champion with Irish International Athlete Eimear McCarroll taking the tape last time out in the Female 10k Race.

There will be prize money available on offer of over £1600 including Bonus prizes for setting new 10k course records in both male and female categories. The present record for the men’s race was set back in 2019 by Scott Rankin (Foyle Valley AC) 31.24, whilst recently crowned Irish National Marathon Champion Ann-Marie McGlynn (Letterkenny AC) stormed round the course in the same year to set a course record of 34.15.

In the 5k event £50 will be rewarded for setting a new 5k course record for both male and female. The current fastest time for the 5k is 14.47 held by Raheny Shamrocks athlete Ciaran Kelly (male) and 18.29 set in 2022 by Eskra native Eimear McCarroll (female). Eimear has gone on to represent her Country at several distance events and is currently at Bradley University, Chicago for her athletics scholarship.

A race spokesperson added ‘The 10k event also has the added feature of the team event with total of £350 prizes for male and female club teams.

The organisers would like to remind everyone not to delay and enter online to ensure they receive the Rudolph Run Beanie hat, which will only be available to the first 500 online entries. Also remember Eskra hospitality is second to none and there will be plenty of food and hot refreshments served in the hall afterwards!’
