If you're new to running and looking for a challenge that blends endurance, camaraderie, and fun, this BYU is the perfect event for you! No matter your pace or experience, this format lets you push your limits at your own speed, with support from fellow runners every step of the way. Whether it's your first mile or your hundredth, you'll find a welcoming community and an unforgettable experience. Lace up and give it a go—you might surprise yourself with what you can achieve!
Course Description
The 6.7 km course offers a perfect setting for the race, featuring a gentle elevation gain of just 20 meters per loop. Participants will run through picturesque landscapes, including lush fields and grassy paths along the Clarinbridge River. The route winds through the serene Kilcornan Woods and culminates in the historic Kilcornan Walled Garden, which is nearly 200 years old.
Participants run a 4.167-mile (6706 Meters) loop every hour, and are eliminated if they fail to complete a loop in an hour. The distance of each loop is equal to 100 divided by 24, so that a competitor runs 100 miles for a full day of competition.
There is no predefined finish. The winner is the competitor who completes a loop that no other competitors complete. If no competitor outlasts every other competitor, there is no winner.
A Backyard Ultra is a fantastic way for runners of all levels to challenge themselves, meet new people, and experience the thrill of endurance running in a supportive and exciting format. Whether you’re aiming to complete a few loops or go the distance, every participant is a winner for stepping up to the challenge!
