County Novice B
After a fantastic day on track, it was off to Fethard for the Co. Novice B road championships, the club was represented by four athletes. First off was Edel Delaney, the ladies ran two laps of the town park, after round one Edel was in third place followed closely by two Fethard ladies. Half way on the final lap the two Fethard ladies working together got past Edel, and held on to finish 3rd and 4th with our Edel running a fantastic race to finish 5th in a time of 12.25. Next up was our men's team of Aaron Moore, Jake Bowe, and the ever reliable Pakie Bowe who had four laps to cover. After round one Aaron was in a group of six athletes competing for silver/bronze medals as the leader had gotten away, with Jake about 90m back and Pakie running steady just further back. Things didn't change very much over the next two laps - all three holding their places. On the final lap, we could see about 400m from the finish the group had broken up and a Fethard athlete and our Aaron were in 2nd and 3rd. Aaron gave everything he had in the last 200m to catch him, but it wasn't to be, finishing in brilliant 3rd to win the bronze medal in his first year in adult competition, in 21.18. All our eyes were then on the 400m point to see Jake coming and what a final round he had moving up to 8th place again in his first year taking on the adults, fantastic running Jake 21.44, then all eyes were on Pakie, and he didn't let us down finishing in 21st in a time of 23 18 , giving us a grand total of 32pts to win the bronze medal, well clear of the 4th team.
