Andrew Coscoran heads to the World Indoor Championships in Toruń as an established Irish record holder and middle distance stalwart, yet he is showing no sign of slowing down as he continues to break new ground this season.
The Star of the Sea AC athlete has established himself as one of Ireland’s leading middle distance runners in recent years, competing consistently at the highest level across the 1500 metres and mile. He reached his first global final at the World Championships in 2025, a major milestone in his career.
Coscoran first made headlines in 2023 when he broke both the Irish indoor and outdoor 1500m records, surpassing marks that had stood for decades and firmly establishing himself among Ireland’s all time greats at the distance.
His progression has continued since then, with the Dublin runner becoming a regular presence on the international circuit and delivering strong performances against world class field
The 2026 indoor season has seen Coscoran return to top form. He hit the automatic qualifying standard for the World Indoor Championships with a strong run at the Millrose Games in New York, where his 1500m split placed him comfortably inside the required mark.
He followed that up with another standout performance in Liévin, where he broke his own Irish indoor 1500m record, clocking 3:33.09 in a high quality field.
With national records, global championship experience and strong recent form, Coscoran arrives in Toruń looking to make an impact in the 1500 metres.
