Lauren Roy heads to the World Indoor Championships in Toruń in the best indoor form of her career.
The Fast Twitch sprinter has been building momentum on the American indoor collegiate circuit with Tarleton State University in Texas. Regular competition on the NCAA circuit has given Roy a steady stream of high level racing and the results have followed.
Roy first appeared on the senior international stage at just 18 years old when she represented Ireland at the 2019 European Indoor Championships in Glasgow.
This winter has seen her take another significant step forward. Racing across the US collegiate indoor season, Roy steadily lowered her 60 metre personal best before producing a standout run of 7.19 seconds on Saturday February 22nd, hitting the automatic qualifying mark for the World Indoor Championships.
That performance secured her place in the women’s 60 metres in Toruń, where she will look to carry her NCAA form onto the championship stage.

2026 Indoor Season
- Opened the 2026 indoor season strongly on the US collegiate circuit, running a national lead time of 7.25 for 60m in January in Lubbock, before lowering that mark again later in the season.
- Produced a superb 22.89 indoor 200m in Texas, becoming the first Tarleton State athlete to break 23 seconds indoors and moving to second on the Irish all time indoor list, behind only Rhasidat Adeleke. It broke the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) record and ranked among the fastest NCAA times of the season.
- Continued lowering her 60m best through the season, ultimately clocking 7.19 seconds on February 22nd, achieving the automatic qualifying standard for the World Indoor Championships.
