2027 Barcelona Marathon Now Open For Entries

2027 Barcelona Marathon Now Open For Entries

Fresh off a record-breaking 2026 season where it solidified its reputation as one of the fastest courses in the world, ranking just behind majors like Berlin and London, the Catalan capital is ready to welcome over 25,000 runners to its sun drenched streets on March 14th, 2027 for the 2027 Barcelona Marathon.

In an era where major marathon entries increasingly rely on stressful ballots, qualifying times, charity places, or expensive tour packages, Barcelona remains refreshingly straightforward. If entries are available and you pay the fee, you are in.

That alone will make this one very attractive for runners left frustrated by the likes of London, Berlin, New York, and Tokyo.

The Race Entry Package: What You Need to Know

For those looking for the pure marathon experience without the extra fluff, the standard Race Entry is priced at €100.

What’s Included:

  • Official Race Bib.
  • The finisher’s medal (to prove you conquered the 42.195km).
  • High-quality technical T-shirt.

No Ballot, No Stress (If You Move Fast!)

In a world where getting into the London, Berlin, or Tokyo marathons feels like winning the lottery, literally, Barcelona remains a breath of fresh air.

The Big Advantage: There is no ballot system for the Barcelona Marathon.

Why Run Barcelona in 2027?

  • The Course: It’s a fast, flat, single-loop circuit that takes you past the Sagrada Família, through the Eixample, and along the Mediterranean coast.
  • The Atmosphere: Known for its "wild" street support, the city turns into one giant party, with local bands and thousands of spectators cheering you toward the finish at the iconic Plaça de Catalunya.
  • The Timing: Held in mid-March, you get the perfect running climate, cool enough for performance, but with that unmistakable Spanish spring sunshine.

For Irish runners in particular, Barcelona continues to tick a lot of boxes. Direct flights, manageable travel costs compared to some Marathon Majors, and a guaranteed entry system make it one of the more accessible overseas marathon options currently available.

There is no ballot stress. No “sorry, unfortunately” email landing in your inbox after months of waiting. Just get registered before the places disappear.

More information and registration details are available on the official Barcelona Marathon website.
