Runners hoping to take on the 2027 Paris Marathon can now enter its ballot, with applications open until Wednesday September 30th. The 50th edition of the race will take place on Sunday April 4th 2027.
Entering the ballot is free. Runners who are selected will then have 72 hours to complete their race registration and pay the general entry fee of €169. The event is now called the ASICS Marathon de Paris and is being organised by Cadence Running United.
When Does the Paris Marathon Ballot Close?
The ballot opened on Tuesday September 8th and closes at 11:59pm Paris time on Wednesday September 30th, which is 10:59pm in Ireland and the UK. Applications can be made at any point before the deadline. Entering early does not improve your chances.
Runners can apply through the official 2027 Paris Marathon ballot page. Only one application is permitted per person. Applicants must have been born on or before December 31st 2007.
When Will Runners Hear Back?
The first results will be sent by email from Thursday October 1st. A successful ballot application gives a runner the right to buy a race place. It does not complete their registration automatically.
Anyone selected has 72 hours from the time their email is sent to follow the personal registration link, provide any further details and pay for their place. The email will state the exact deadline. If a runner misses it, the offer expires and the place may go to someone else. It is worth checking the spam folder as well as the inbox.
Runners who miss out initially will remain in consideration for any further draws if places become available. The organiser may then use a waiting list, but no dates have been announced for further offers.
Can Friends Enter Together?
Yes. Teams of two to six runners can enter the ballot together. Each person must complete their own application and join the same team before the ballot closes. If one team member is selected in the main draw or a further draw, every valid member of that team receives an offer. Each runner must then complete and pay for their own entry within 72 hours.
There is one distinction later in the process: offers from the waiting list are made to individuals, even if they originally applied as part of a team. Team members do not have to run together on race day.
How Much Does It Cost?
The general race entry fee is €169, payable only if a runner is selected and chooses to take up the place. No payment details or deposit are needed to enter the ballot.
Runners with a valid French Athletics Federation licence for the 2026 to 2027 season may qualify for a reduced €160.55 fee. The organiser has also set aside 1,000 places at €50 through a separate draw for applicants who meet specified social criteria and provide supporting documents. Applicants who miss out on that reduced price draw move into the general ballot automatically.
Charity and company entry routes are available separately. For a charity place, runners must meet the fundraising target set for their chosen partner charity.
What Else Is Confirmed for Race Day?
The 2027 race is scheduled for Sunday April 4th and will mark the Paris Marathon’s 50th edition. The organiser has yet to publish the course or confirm the start and finish locations. It says details of race day access and any required medical documents will follow closer to the event.
