Will Harry Styles Run The New York Marathon On Sunday? The Clues Behind The Rumours

Will Harry Styles Run The New York Marathon On Sunday? The Clues Behind The Rumours

Harry Styles has a busy Saturday night ahead of him. The question is how much he has planned for Sunday morning.

With the New York City Marathon taking place on November 1, speculation has gathered around a possible appearance by the singer. His concert schedule, running sightings and previous marathon performances have all fed the theory that he could be heading for the start line.

His participation remains unconfirmed, but anyone expecting a formal announcement might be waiting unnecessarily. Styles ran last year’s Berlin Marathon under a pseudonym, making another quiet entry perfectly plausible. That does not mean he is running on Sunday, but it means his absence from the announced celebrity lineup tells us very little.

The Date Behind The Speculation

The biggest clue is sitting in his concert calendar.

Styles is scheduled to complete his 30 show Madison Square Garden residency on Saturday, October 31, the evening before the marathon. His next listed concert is in Melbourne on November 27, leaving almost four weeks between the two.

That puts him in the right city at the right time, with a break from public performances afterwards. For someone who has already completed two major marathons, it is an opportunity that has understandably attracted attention.

There is an obvious complication, of course. A Saturday night concert followed by an early journey to the marathon start would hardly constitute textbook preparation. Most runners consider walking too far around the expo a questionable decision the day before a race.

Still, a late finish on Saturday does not rule out an early start on Sunday. It would simply make for a rather demanding weekend.

He Has Been Getting His Runs In

Styles has also been photographed running during his time in New York, including an outing in August before his residency began.

Those sightings have added to the speculation, although they cannot tell us what he is training for. Regular runs could be part of his concert preparation, his everyday routine or a programme leading towards another marathon.

There is no verified training schedule to point to. For now, the running sightings fit the theory without confirming it.

From Tokyo To A Sub Three In Berlin

What is beyond doubt is that Styles can run.

His marathon debut came in Tokyo in March 2025, where he finished in 3:24:07. He followed that with 2:59:13 at the Berlin Marathon that September, improving by 24 minutes and 54 seconds.

That Berlin performance meant averaging approximately 4:15 per kilometre, or 6:50 per mile, for the full distance.

Breaking three hours is an ambition that occupies plenty of dedicated club runners for years. Achieving it at his second marathon was an impressive result by any reasonable measure, regardless of what he does for a living.

Should he appear in New York, he would arrive with considerably more than celebrity interest behind him. He has already proved he can deliver a serious marathon performance.

Could Sted Sarandos Make Another Appearance?

In Berlin, Styles competed under the name Sted Sarandos, with his result linked to the bib number visible in photographs of him running.

That precedent matters when assessing the New York rumours. Although he does not appear in the organisers’ announced celebrity lineup, that announcement is not a complete account of everyone entered in the race. His absence from it should not be treated as evidence that he will be absent from the course.

It is entirely plausible that he could use a pseudonym again and take part without any advance publicity. There is currently no verified evidence that he has done so, but Berlin gives us a clear reason to leave that possibility open.

So, Will He Run On Sunday?

The clues make an interesting case: a final concert in New York on Saturday, a gap before his next scheduled performance and an established appetite for marathon running.

None confirms that Styles will line up on Sunday. Equally, the lack of a public announcement does not settle the matter.

For now, he has one New York finish line firmly in the diary: the end of his Madison Square Garden residency. We will have to wait to find out if he has another one in mind.
