Bandon AC to hold 5K on April 25th with a Fresh Course and High Expectations

Bandon AC are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a 5k Road race on Thursday evening April 25th with a race start time of 7:30pm.

This will be the first road race the club have held since 2019, when Bandon AC's annual Donough Coughlan 5 mile last took place. 

For people that took part previously the race course has changed. It will start adjacent to Colaiste Na Toirbhirte and run up in the direction of Kilbrittain Rd. Runners will then turn left once on the Kilbrittain Road for approx. 500m and will stay on the left hand side of that road, it will then take another left off the main road to Curraveda East. The race will go through crossroads here and again between the Monarone / Tullyland road, before it turns left onto the Mill road and will finish before reaching the junction by the Old Still and the Mart, the finish of all previously held races.

The race will not be turning onto any part of the bypass or passing through the town as previous road races which were held.

It is promised to be a very fast 5km course as most is on a slight downhill so expect fast times, all funds raised will go towards our track development which will be an incredible addition for our club and for athletics in Cork with the current situation. This is the first of hopefully many more years of our road race back in Bandon after 4 years. You can register through event master up until the evening of the 24^th of April, anyone above the age of 13 can register.

Prize giving and refreshments are being held in Colaiste Na Toirbhirte afterwards as the school have kindly allowed the club to use the school’s facilities for the night so numbers to be collected there also up until 7:15pm.
