Galway Cross Country Series Finale: Rosshill Park Welcomes Runners for a Thrilling Showdown

March 01, 2024

As the Galway Cross Country Series reaches its climax, anticipation is building for the grand finale set to unfold at Rosshill Park on Saturday, March 2nd. The Tribal Running powered series, generously sponsored by Terryland Fruit & Veg Market, has been a testament to the spirit of community and pure love for the sport. Huge credit must go to the brains behind the series, Sean McDermott!

Rosshill Park hosts the conclusion of the series, with a course that promises to be both a spectacle and a true test of athletes' running skills. The course offers a thrilling blend of challenges, including upwards and downwards slopes, fast gravel sections, tricky smaller trail segments, and an endless supply of twists and turns. It's a runner's roller coaster ride, demanding not only speed but strategic agility—a true showcase of all-round athletic abilities. Entry for the conclusion of the series is a mere €5, while a ticket for a family of four is just €10.

Rosshill Park, situated conveniently close to Galway City East and near the iconic Galway Crystal Factory, has become a favorite among runners. The park was not only the venue for the exhilarating Inaugural Galway City 5km Turkey Trot in December 2023 but also offers easy access for participants from Galway City and its surroundings.

As the series bids farewell with the Rosshill Park showdown, McDermott wants to pull out all the stops to make this edition unforgettable. Runners can look forward to not only the thrill of the race but also fun bonuses waiting at the finish line. In addition to the usual post-race amenities like coffee, tea, snacks, and hot chocolate with marshmallows, participants will be treated to fresh fruit from Terryland Fruit & Veg Market. McDermott extended sincere thanks to Terryland Fruit & Veg Market for their unwavering support over the past few years, which has played a crucial role in making the series a success.

The timing of the Rosshill Park finale couldn't be better for participants, with college, school, and Masters XC races on the horizon, along with indoor All Irelands. The event serves as an excellent opportunity for runners to shake up their bodies, fine-tune their strategies, and mentally prepare for the challenges that lie ahead in the upcoming competitions.

The series has become more than a collection of races; it's a celebration of the running community's spirit, determination, and love for the sport. The Rosshill Park finale promises to be the crescendo, a fitting conclusion to an extraordinary journey through the fields, trails, and parks of Galway. Lace up those running shoes, feel the adrenaline, and get ready for a memorable showdown at Rosshill Park this weekend!
