Killarney Valley Athletic Club have recently announced Munster’s newest 5-mile road race to take place in Killarney on Good Friday (March 29th) 2024 at 6:30pm, the Streets of Killarney!
Run Republic asked the organisers of this brand new race what the idea was behind the launch of this event, and it is evident that giving back to the community is at the forefront of everybody's mind at Killarney Valley AC.
‘We feel that a road race organised by an actual Athletics Club was missing from the Killarney area road racing calendar.
‘There are lots of commercial ones but a race where the proceeds actually go back into the sport & the youth is needed.
‘Also considering Killarney Valley AC's rise these past few years into being the 2022 Athletics Ireland Development Club of the year with our success in Track & Field then of course a natural evolution is to bring the inclusivity & accessibility of road racing into our catch phrase of #kvacontherise’
The race will start and finish in Killarney town centre, and the entry fee includes a race t-shirt and postage of race number, up until March 21st, 2024. (For entries after this date, number and t-shirt must be collected on the day of the event.)
All proceeds go towards the Killarney Valley Athletics club Track which benefits over 3000 students & the Killarney Valley Athletics Club Community.
There will be cash prizes for the first three male and female finishers, as well as prizes for wheelchair athletes and visually impaired athletes. There will also be age category prizes and a company/business participation prize on the day.
