Country Roads and Coastal Vibes – Ardglass 5K & 10K Returns Next Wednesday

If you're after a midweek race with charm, atmosphere and a salty breeze in the air, the Ardglass 5K and 10K might be just the ticket. Taking place on Wednesday 30th July 2025, this evening double-header is a summer highlight for runners across County Down and beyond.

Hosted by Atlas Running, the races start and finish outside the local primary school, with chip timing, prizes, and that all-important post-run cuppa lined up.

And yes, you can register on the day from 5pm, but don’t hang about. You’ll want time for a quick warm-up and maybe even a cheeky nosey at the sea.

Two Distances, One Coastal Setting

The 10K sets off at 7pm, followed shortly after by the 5K at 7:10pm. Both courses take runners out along the peaceful country roads surrounding Ardglass, scenic, rolling, and just the right side of challenging.

You’re not tackling trail climbs or mountain loops here, but it’s not pancake-flat either. Let’s call it honest running, countryside air, quiet lanes, and a good excuse to earn your supper.

Post-Race Perks

Every finisher gets a medal to mark the night, with prizes for the top three male and female finishers in both distances. There’s refreshments in the hall afterwards, and expect more than just a paper cup of dilute.

It’s a small-town race with a big heart and a welcome midweek stretch of the legs for anyone looking to keep their race calendar lively through the summer.

Don’t Miss Out

It’s midweek, it’s by the coast, and it’s got the kind of relaxed but rewarding atmosphere that makes summer racing in Ireland so good. Whether you’re chasing a time or just getting your steps in, the Ardglass 5K & 10K is a grand way to spend your Wednesday night.

📍 Just 15 minutes from Downpatrick, this one’s well worth the trip.
