Akinola And Gormley Set For Czech Test This Evening

There are two Irish athletes on the start lists at the Josef Odložil Memorial in Prague this evening, with Ireland represented by Bori Akinola And James Gormley.

Bori Akinola heads to Prague in outstanding form after an excellent 2026 campaign so far. The Dubliner claimed victories in Lyon and Glasgow during the indoor season, won the Irish 60m title, and broke the Irish indoor 100m record. He has carried that momentum outdoors, setting new personal bests of 10.20 for 100m and 20.83 for 200m in London last weekend. Still chasing the 10.15 automatic qualifying standard for this summer's European Championships, Prague presents another opportunity for Akinola to continue his rapid progress.

James Gormley makes his outdoor season debut this evening in the men's 1500m following a solid indoor campaign in the United States. The Carmen Runners athlete set new personal bests for both the mile and 1500m during his 3rd place finish at the Battle of Boston in February, before going on to represent Ireland at the World Indoor Championships in March. He will be hoping to carry that momentum into the outdoor season in Prague.

Below is the starting times for both Bori and James in Irish time:

⏰ 5:20 PM – 🏃🏿‍♂️ Bori Akinola – Men’s 100m R1
⏰ 5:55 PM – 🏃‍♂️ James Gormley – Men’s 1500m
⏰ 6:50 PM – 🏃🏿‍♂️ Bori Akinola – Men’s 100m Final

*Subject to Qualification
