How to Watch Irish Sprint Stars in Action in London Today

Nine Irish sprinters are named for the Stratford Speed GP at the London Marathon Community Track today, with several athletes returning following appearances at the European Athletics Championships.

Marcus Lawler and Ciara Neville both helped Ireland reach the men’s and women’s 4x100m relay finals in Birmingham. Neville was part of the Irish team that set a national record of 43.13 in the heats, while Lawler helped the men record a season best of 39.13.

Bori Akinola is also back on the start list following an extremely busy weekend. The UCD athlete raced twice at Lee Valley on Saturday before clocking 10.33 in Bellinzona on Sunday. Akinola, Lawler and Neville will all contest the 100m today, with Lawler and Neville also entered for the 200m.

Mark Smyth and Paul Costelloe are set to double over the 100m and 200m, while Cliodhna Manning contests the women’s 400m and 200m. Arlene Crossan is entered for the women’s 400m hurdles and 200m, with Lana Sutton also lining up over 200m.

Irish under 20 sprinter Joanna Shodipo has also appeared on the official women’s 100m start list and will compete in heat seven of the opening round.
