Two of Ireland’s top athletes will bring their 2026 track seasons to a close in London tonight as Rhasidat Adeleke and Sophie O’Sullivan line up at ATHLOS London.
The invitation only meeting takes place at StoneX Stadium and brings together six athletes in each of seven women’s events. ATHLOS was founded by Reddit co founder Alexis Ohanian and combines elite athletics with a packed entertainment programme, while offering some of the biggest prize money in the sport. Tonight marks its first event outside the United States.
For Irish supporters, however, the main attraction is straightforward. O’Sullivan takes on a high quality 800m field before Adeleke closes the programme over 200m.
O’Sullivan Chasing Another Fast 800m
O’Sullivan arrives in London in the finest 800m form of her career.
The Ballymore Cobh athlete has broken two minutes in each of her last three races over the distance. Her most recent outing brought a personal best of 1:58.60 in Brescia, leaving her just nine hundredths of a second outside Ciara Mageean’s Irish record of 1:58.51.
Tonight brings another chance to attack that mark, although the field is a serious one. Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson heads the entry list, with Rénelle Lamote, Raevyn Rogers, Valentina Rosamilia and Juliette Whittaker also set to compete.
Adeleke Faces Olympic Champion in the 200m
Adeleke returns to the 200m five days after competing at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest. The Tallaght sprinter clocked 22.81 seconds there, finishing fifth in her race and missing a place in the final by one position.
That performance was short of the superb form she produced at the European Championships in Birmingham last month. Adeleke ran an Irish record of 22.28 seconds to claim silver, finishing just behind Britain’s Amy Hunt after charging through the closing stages.
The 24 year old now gets one final opportunity to finish an injury interrupted season on a high. She will face Olympic 200m champion Gabby Thomas, along with Anavia Battle, Shaunae Miller Uibo, Kayla White and Lieke Klaver.
What Is ATHLOS?
ATHLOS is a professional women’s athletics meeting built around short, tightly scheduled competition and major prize money. Seven events feature on the London programme, with the winner of each receiving $65,000 and a Tiffany crown.
The meeting begins with the 100m hurdles at 7.08pm, while the two Irish athletes feature in the final two races of the night.
