Sophie O’Sullivan moved within touching distance of the Irish women’s 800m record with a superb personal best in Brescia on Saturday.

O’Sullivan clocked 1:58.60 to finish second, moving to second on the Irish all time list and just 0.09 seconds behind Ciara Mageean’s national record of 1:58.51.

It continues a remarkable run over the distance. O’Sullivan broke two minutes for the first time with 1:59.65 in Twickenham on August 9th before taking another 1.05 seconds off that time in Brescia.
