Fastest Fingers First: Trim 10 Mile Entries Open Tomorrow
The first test of speed at the Trim 10 Mile has very little to do with running. It involves getting your entry sorted before everyone else has the same idea.
Entries for the 2027 Nally’s SuperValu Trim 10 Mile open at 8am on Wednesday, October 14th, through Pop Up Races. Organisers have increased capacity to 2,500 runners, giving an extra 250 people the opportunity to take part compared with the 2026 edition. That is welcome news, but probably not a reason to leave it until after lunch.
Hosted by Trim Athletic Club in conjunction with Nally’s SuperValu Trim, the race takes place in Trim, Co. Meath, on Sunday, January 31st, 2027, with a 12 noon start. The starting line will be in its usual location just off the Athboy Road entrance to Eamonn Duggan Industrial Estate.
Why the rush?
Trim has developed the sort of following that makes entering a race an event in itself. The 2026 edition sold out, and Newcastle AC’s subsequent race report described club members sitting ready at their computers as registration opened, determined to secure their entries. A familiar enough scene for anyone who has ever watched a club WhatsApp group turn into a ticket sales support service.
Its appeal is easy to understand. Trim AC has built the event around a fast road course and a broad field, with the 2026 race offering chip timing, pacers, a training top and refreshments afterwards. Those practical touches help explain why runners keep coming back.
There is also plenty to like about the distance. Ten miles is a proper endurance test, but it gives runners moving up from 10K a target short of a half marathon. For more experienced runners, it offers the opportunity to chase a personal best or assess how winter training is going.
The January date provides another useful incentive. Booking a race now gives those dark December evenings a bit of purpose, particularly when the sofa starts making a very convincing argument.
What do runners get?
The listed entry price for 2027 is €42. Organisers have confirmed that race tops and numbers will be posted out in advance, removing the need to collect them on race morning. Pacers will also be available, while category and team prizes add a competitive interest for individuals and clubs.
The noon start is another welcome detail for anyone travelling from outside Meath. There is enough effort involved in racing ten miles without having to set an alarm for a time normally associated with an airport departure.
For runners planning their first target of 2027, Trim makes a strong case. A popular club event, a useful distance and a date that puts some structure on winter training are a fairly persuasive combination.
Just remember that getting to the starting line begins in October.
Entries open at 8am on Wednesday, October 14th. Visit the Trim 10 Mile entry page and have your details ready. The running can wait until January. The registration probably should not.
