The countdown to the Irish Running Show’s Dublin debut gathered momentum on Friday, October 23rd, as exhibitors, ambassadors, partners and runners came together at the Horse Show House in Ballsbridge for its launch.
Held ahead of Dublin Marathon weekend, the gathering offered an opportunity to hear more about the show, which takes place at the RDS on February 6th and 7th, 2027, and for those involved to help shape what visitors can expect.
For founder and event director Oonagh Cattigan, it was a welcome opportunity to bring the people behind the event together.
“We brought together our exhibitors, our ambassadors, our partners for an informal catch up,” she said.
Over food and drink, guests discussed their hopes for the show and heard more about the plans for its two days. Speakers included Paddy Ryan of Run Republic, the show’s media partner, representatives of exhibiting brand EOS Elite, and Rob Hartnett of Sport for Business, with Cattigan also addressing the gathering.
Runners Have Their Say
With the Dublin Marathon just two days away, some of those attending had a particularly busy weekend ahead. Runners preparing for the race joined the launch to share their reasons for running, the charities they were supporting and what they would like from a running show.
Those conversations gave the organisers a chance to hear directly from the people they hope to welcome through the doors in February. Alongside the talks and introductions, exhibitors also had time to meet one another before sharing the show floor.
“It was a great opportunity for exhibitors, partners and sponsors to meet and get excited ahead of the show,” Cattigan said.
What To Expect At The RDS
Following the first NI Running Show earlier this year, the Dublin event will bring running brands, coaches, health professionals, clubs and race organisers together under one roof.
Organisers are advertising more than 100 brands, with opportunities to browse kit, speak to experts and hear from a programme of speakers. Interactive zones and yoga and Pilates sessions will give visitors the chance to try something themselves, alongside the talks and shopping.
For anyone planning their next challenge, representatives from clubs, races and events will be on hand to discuss options for the year ahead. Food and drink will also be available, and children go free.
The launch offered an early opportunity for that same mix of runners, businesses and event organisers to get talking. February will bring those conversations to a much wider audience at the RDS.
