One Last Chance: Moycarkey Coolcroo 5K This Friday

There’s still time to grab those runners and head to the start to the start line!

The Moycarkey Coolroo 5K returns this Friday 13th June at 7.30pm, and if you’re looking for a fast, friendly race with a top-notch setup this is it. With just 10m of elevation and a flying final kilometre into Littleton village , it’s the sort of course that flatters your training (and your Strava stats). But you need to be quick, online registration closes tonight at 11pm!

Organised by Moycarkey Coolcroo AC, the race is chipped by JustRuns Events, and features category prizes every 5 years from 40+, as well as trophies and cash for the top three male and female finishers. The course records currently stand at 15:15 for men and 17:41 for women and with some sharp names lining up this year, those could very well tumble.

Race organiser Mossi Bracken says the course is “fast from the gun”:

“It starts on the old Dublin road wide, smooth and downhill into the village, then settles into flat and rolling sections before a rapid finish. The last K is quick, and the atmosphere in the village adds a real buzz.”

If you’ve never been, Littleton is a small village in County Tipperary, just a few minutes outside Thurles and a stone’s throw from the M8 motorway — making it an easy drive from across Munster and Leinster. It’s proper midlands heartland, with that classic Tipperary mix of charm and competition.

The route is AAI-approved, well-marked, and there’s ample parking at Littleton Community Centre, just a short walk from the registration area. A shuttle bus is available to bring runners from HQ to the start (approx. 1 mile away). Changing facilities are provided and post-race refreshments are promised.

For those driving in, you’re looking at:

  • 1hr from Kilkenny
  • 1hr 15 from Limerick
  • 1hr 20 from Cork
  • 2hr 15 from Dublin

The club isn’t just focused on the now, either. Moycarkey Coolcroo is actively fundraising for a full-scale 8-lane track and the 5K is one of the cornerstones helping bring that vision to life.

👟 Key Details:

  • Starts at 7.30pm
  • Fast, officially measured 5K
  • Chip timing by JustRuns Events
  • Downhill start, fast finish
  • Trophies, cash prizes, and category medals
  • Flat course with just 10m gain
  • Car parking and shuttle bus from HQ
  • No dogs on course

Still thinking about it? Don’t. Friday’s forecast is fine, the road is waiting, and Littleton will be buzzing.
