🏞️ The Irish Coast to Coast Race
Bray Head Wicklow to Bray Head Valentia Island 🌊

Join us for the ultimate endurance challenge, the Irish Coast to Coast Race, spanning 600 km from Bray Head, Wicklow to Bray Head, Valentia Island in Kerry, with an astounding 13,100 meters of elevation! This extreme race will take you through a variety of landscapes, including rugged trails, scenic coastlines, and mountain paths.

🎽 Mandatory Kit

Level C - Advanced Kit:

Waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams

Hat or buff

Gloves

Whistle

Charged mobile phone with emergency number stored

Foil blanket, bivvy bag, or equivalent

Waterproof full leg cover

Means to carry a minimum of 500 mL of water

Emergency food

Map of the route/area

Compass

The kit to be carried will be finalized on the day, depending on weather conditions. Failure to have the required kit may result in disqualification. Random checks will be carried out.

🚶 Route Description

Start at Bray Head Wicklow, proceed to Bray Head Valentia Island, and follow a variety of routes, including:

Wicklow Way (85 km)

South Leinster Way (61 km)

East Munster Way (61 km)

Blackwater (Avondhu) Way (86 km)

Blackwater (Duhallow) Way (52 km)

Kerry Way (to Portmagee, 89 km)

And finish at Bray Head Valentia Island, Kerry.

📝 Organiser's Instructions

Sign-in and Kit Check:

Sign-in, kit check, and tracker attaching will happen from 11:00 PM on Friday, June 20th, on the promenade in Bray (across from the Strand Hotel).

The race starts at midnight, with the clock starting at the promenade in Bray, Wicklow and stopping at Bray Head (Tower), Valentia Island, Kerry.

Race Description:
From Bray Head, head up the Cross on Bray Head and follow the route across Greystones Road, heading for the N11 flyover near Glenview Hotel. Continue onto Red Lane for Bray Commons and meet the Wicklow Way.

The race covers multiple iconic routes including the South Leinster Way, East Munster Way, and Kerry Way.

The finish line is located at Bray Head, Valentia Island, marking the end of your 600 km journey!

Self-Sufficiency:
This is a self-sufficient race, so each participant must have a crew available at all times.

All travel must be done on foot only, and trackers must be attached at all times.

Participants are responsible for their own safety and logistics throughout the race.

Hi-viz vests and front and rear lights must be worn during all hours of darkness.

🏅 Relay Teams

Teams can consist of as many or as few members as desired, but all team members must be registered IMRA members for 2025.

Relay teams will hand over the tracker to the next runner at designated points, whether after 20 km or 100 km.

Team Example: A team from a triathlon club could have each runner do 30 km on the Wicklow Way on Saturday, and another 30 km on the Blackwater Way on Thursday.

Entry details will be available closer to the event. Typically, registration opens a few weeks before the event.

Important Notes

Full Event Details and instructions will be given at sign-in. Ensure you have your tracker, emergency supplies, and crew support at all times.

Participants are expected to have high levels of fitness and preparation due to the extreme nature of this event.
