Countdown to race day!

The Half on the Head is one of Irelands most scenic runs. The Half Marathon takes you around the rugged coast of Kerryhead Peninsula, one of the most westerly points in Europe and a hidden gem of the Wild Atlantic Way . Starting in Ballyheigue village you will make your way along country roads and lanes by the Shannon Estuary. The route then loops back to Tralee Bay with stunning views of Mount Brandon and Banna Strand to its finish at the gates of historic Ballyheigue Castle. There is also a 10k run offering similar spectacular views.

Looking for a stunning half-marathon? The Half on the Head follows a wonderfully scenic course along one of the hidden gems of the Wild Atlantic Way, from Ballyheigue Village right around Kerryhead (one of the closest places to the ). The 13.2 mile run takes you along the Shannon Estuary with views accross the river mouth to the coast of Clare. Glancing back you will see the rugged Kerry coastline stretching to the town of Ballybunion. You might even catch a glimpse of the fabled Cliffs of Dooneen. Upon rounding the point of Kerryhead you will experience the magnificent panorama of Tralee Bay with Mount Brandon and the Maherees as a backdrop.
