Medieval Marathon Half Marathon

Kilkenny provides the historic backdrop for Ireland’s annual Medieval Marathon on 12 September 2026.

The Marathon, 30K and Half Marathon start on High Street (beside the Thosel/Town Hall). The 10K starts at St Francis Bridge (the new bridge). The route will take in some of the most historic sites in the city before winding out the country roads, making its way back to Kilkenny to finish in front of Butler Gallery in the heart of the city.

All finishers will be rewarded with a bespoke medal and technical t-shirt to celebrate the battle victory!
