How To Watch Irish Athletes in Action In London & Czechia Today

First up is the Kladno Memorial in the Czech Republic, where James Gormley (Carmen Runners) lines up in the men's 1500m. It will be his second outdoor outing of the season after opening with a 3:41.32 performance over the same distance in the Czech Republic last week.

Meanwhile, six Irish athletes are entered for the Stratford Speed GP2 in England, with much of the attention focused on the sprint events.

Ireland's two leading male sprinters, Bori Akinola and Israel Olatunde, are both set to contest the men's 100m. Olatunde has already secured qualification for the European Championships following his Irish record run of 10.08 last season.

Akinola, meanwhile, has enjoyed a breakthrough twelve months, taking Olatunde's Irish 60m record during the indoor season. The UCD athlete currently holds the Irish season lead with 10.19, recorded at the opening Stratford meeting. That performance was both a personal best and season's best, and achieved the Athletics Ireland B standard while leaving him just four hundredths of a second shy of the automatic European qualifying mark.

On the women's side, Ciara Neville returns to action after representing Ireland at both the World Indoor Championships and World Relays this season. Neville clocked a personal best and season's best of 11.33 at the opening Stratford meeting, achieving the Athletics Ireland B standard and moving within 0.15 seconds of the automatic European qualifying mark of 11.18.

Also competing is Precious Akpe-Moses, who comes into the meeting with a season's best of 11.78. While she remains some distance from the European standard, her personal best of 11.32 from last season underlines the level she is capable of reaching when at her best.

Also in action is Sophie Becker, who is entered in both the 100m and 200m. The Wexford athlete continues to build her speed as the outdoor season progresses and will be looking to sharpen her form ahead of a busy summer schedule.

Rounding off the Irish contingent is Rachel McCann, who is entered in the women's 400m. A regular member of Ireland's relay squads in recent seasons, McCann will be aiming to continue her steady progression as the championship season approaches.
