With 2023 in the rear view mirror, Run Republic caught up with Ardee & District AC to talk about some of the events the club and its members were involved in over the festive period.
The club hosted the GOAL Mile on St. Stephen's Day to raise funds for the great cause that is GOAL, and we spoke to the people at the club to talk about about how successful the day was.
'Roughly 50 participants from the community ran or walked 4 laps of the local park.
'A lot had registered with GOAL beforehand. We staged it between 10am and 12pm and people rocked up in their own time and ran their 4 laps.'
The event was marshalled by club members and the people at Ardee & District AC want to thank all who were involved on the day for their time and effort in making the day as special as it was.
The club raised €250 for GOAL through the event and everyone who contributed is hugely appreciated.
Ardee & District AC ended 2023 on a high with their annual Sliabh Gullion hike on New Years Eve. 'This is always something special, and is a huge achievement for all those participating.
'We had record numbers this year and were joined by some members of Boyne AC and Drogheda and District AC. We provided soup and sandwiches afterwards and it was great way to finish of 2023!'
The club also supported lots of local races throughout the period, as well as hosting their annual Christmas Morning 10k!
We asked the people at the club about plans for 2024, and there is a watchful eye being kept on the Rotterdam Running Festival in April which is bound to excite members!
We would like to thank Ardee & District AC for sharing information about these events and stay tuned for more news and events from the club here at Run Republic!
