Femke Bol broke her own World Indoor 400m Record with a 49.24 victory at the Dutch Indoor Championships on Sunday. This was an improvement on her previous 49.26 record which she set at the same event one year ago.
Speaking to the media following the race, Bol said;
“I never get used to it, especially with all these people cheering on home soil. It’s a dream come true to run another world record and it’s wonderful to have all these Dutch fans enjoying the most beautiful sport in the world.”
Bol's highest World Athletics Rankings were 1st in the 400m hurdles in 2021–2024, 3rd in the 400m in 2023, and 2nd woman overall in 2023. She was also named European Athletics Rising Star of the Year in 2021 and European Athlete of the Year in 2022 and 2023.
Sunday's performance will surely fill the Dutch superstar with huge confidence as the road to Paris 2024 continues.
