December 11, 2024

Coolcroo out in force at Valencia Marathon:

Moycarkey Coolcroo had a strong entry of 6 athletes toeing the start line in Valencia Spain on December 1st, 4 of whom set new personal bests for the distance. Mossy Bracken unfortunately had picked up an illness the day before the marathon and had braved the race for as long as he could but had to withdraw at mile 18. It has been another great year for Mossy having already set a personal best for the marathon in Denmark in May and having Won the County 10k Championship for the first time and defended his Tipp 10mile title for the third time, I'm sure Mossy will be back stronger than ever in 2025, Matthew Ryan had one of his best runs this year leading the club home with a new PB of 2:36:41. Conor Keating back running strong again after injury also ran his best marathon to date running 2hrs 37mins&52secs. Kevin Shortall who's discipline on the track was high jump for many years directed his training towards running in recent times with his reward achieving a new personal best of 2:55:44. Our next athlete in was Donie Bergin who made his senior debut for the club in March earlier this year The Ballinure man had a stellar run to break the 3 hour barrier in 2:59:48. Next in running well representing the club & running his first marathon since 2012 crossing the finish line in 3hrs14mins&16secs was Shane Mullaney to round off a great day for the club Well done to everyone.
