COUNTY NOVICE ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP
NOVICE CUP WIN FOR OUR MENS TEAM
The County Novice Road Championship took place on the 24th March. The race was hosted by Moyne Athletic Club. We had 16 Athletes run. The women's race distance was 3k and the men ran 6k. We had 4 women run and first home for the club was 6th Mary Keane in a time of 11.32, right behind her was 7th Catherine Fogarty, 11.37, next was Emily Leahy was 17th in a time of 12.38 and 19th Mairead Julian 13.06. In the men's race we had 12 athletes run. First home for the club was 4th Barry Hartnett 20.10, 5th Philly O Dwyer 20.19, 6th Tom O Connell 20.28, 9th Gerry O Neill 21.32. 12th John Ryan 21.45, 19th Darren Allison 22.21, 30th Val Farrell, 33rd Darren Gayson 23.51, 37th William Keane 24.08, 41st Michael Ryan 24.37, 45th Shane White 25.09 and 52nd Sean McGrath.
Our Men's team consisting of Barry, Philly, Tom & Gerry won the novice cup. A great team effort by the men, winning the cup for the first time since 2015.
We now look forward to the County Road Intermediate Championship next Sunday in Galbally.
