In the days after he completed his Malin to Mizen ultra-endurance run, Tipperary man Peter Ryan reached and surpassed his target of €100,000. The funds raised are all going towards the NCBI to aid the development of Ireland’s first mobile unit, the Vision Van. The Vision Van will travel to communities around the country providing support services and information for sight loss and eye conditions free at the point of delivery. Three weeks removed from the event, the figure raised currently stands at a staggering €110,859.
The NCBI spoke to Run Republic about Peter’s achievement and what the funds raised mean to the charity itself, “NCBI is blown away by the incredible achievement that Peter has reached, and we are so grateful to Peter for choosing to support NCBI while taking on this mammoth task. The actual beneficiaries are those people living in small villages and towns throughout Ireland who will be able to avail of better knowledge on eye care, leading to earlier diagnosis and ultimately better eye health all around. The Vision Van will now be able to reach those people and that is the legacy that Peter, his supporters, and all those who donated to his campaign have!”
I would like to thank our fantastic readers for following along this amazing journey with us through the articles and for all the donations you made, however big or small. These donations are incredibly important for everybody around the country to avail of the eye care we all need. Your support was a huge help in getting Peter over the finish line.
