This evening, mountain runners will converge for the 11th race of the IMRA Leinster League, with Seahan as the focal point. As the third-to-last race in a competitive 13-race league that commenced back in April, tonight’s event is crucial for many participants vying for top positions in the standings.
The Seahan course is a challenge, stretching 9.8km with a demanding elevation gain of 510m. It is rated 7 on the IMRA Difficulty Scale, indicating a tough yet rewarding route for seasoned runners. For junior participants and those opting for a shorter distance, a 3.9km course is available, allowing a broader range of runners to take part in the evening's excitement.
With approximately 200 entries, the popularity of this midweek league is clear, reflecting the vibrant and active mountain running community in the Leinster region. The main race is set to kick off at 7:30pm, followed closely by the Junior/Short Course at 7:35pm.
Following the race, runners will gather for post-race prize-giving at Aherne's Pub on Old Bawn Road in Tallaght. Race Director Martin Bagnall has put in serious effort into making this event as successful and as enjoyable as possible for participants, alongside dedicated volunteers who will be crucial this evening.
As the league draws nearer to its conclusion, each race holds significant weight, and tonight’s event at Seahan is no exception. Whether participants are racing for personal bests, league points, or the sheer joy of mountain running, the stage is set.
