MUNSTER JUVENILE INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

On Saturday, 23rd March Nenagh Olympic hosted an open indoor event for U9 to U11 children as these age groups had no Munster championship this year. There was a big number of athletes from all over Munster. It was very competitive and we had 28 athletes competing. In the U/9 girls Lucy Butler, Anna O'Brien, Lucy Corley, Eabha Hayes, Isla Ryan and Mary Kate Devane all had a good day out with some fine performances but no medals. All were competing at this level for the first time as were our U9 boys Edward Haries, Tim Butler, Daniel Dunne, Darragh Leahy and Rian Carmody. We had a bit more luck here as Tim Butler had a fine win in the turbo javelin taking the gold medal and Rian Carmody won the bronze medal. In the U10 age group we had six girls competing, Lilyanne O'Grady, Chloe Kearney, Sarah Butler, Evie Farrell, Emma O'Brien and Lucy Bourke all were very competitive but finished out of the medals as did our boys U/11 Caelan Bowes, Tom Carmody, Thomas John Walsh, Robert Kelly and Sean Creighton. Our U11 boys were very competitive particularly in the 60m  where both  Harry Creedon and David DeBurca and Kieran Butler competed. Harry and David both won their heats and got through the semi finals to make the final where David Finished 4th and Harry 6th just missing out on medals. Aoife Ryan, Lily O'Brien and Sophie Lonergan were our U11 girls and all had a good day. This brought the club's juvenile indoor season to an end and we now move on to the outdoor track and field season.
