It was a packed weekend of competition for Bandon AC, with club members representing across a wide range of disciplines—at home and abroad.

🇳🇱 Ruby Cummins Impresses in the Netherlands

Ruby Cummins put in a superb performance in the heptathlon, finishing 5th in a field of 18 in the Netherlands with a new personal best score of 4902. Her event-by-event results were as follows:

  • 100m Hurdles: 14.48s (PB)
  • High Jump: 1.57m
  • Shot Put: 11.91m (PB)
  • 200m: 26.65s
  • Long Jump: 5.23m
  • Javelin: 31.44m
  • 800m: 2:24.34 (PB)

A remarkable achievement and a sign of more to come.

National Schools Success

There was plenty of Bandon AC talent on display at the National Schools Track & Field Championships, with multiple podium finishes and strong performances across the board:

  • 🥈 Eoghan Foley – 2nd in the Minor Boys 100m
  • 🥇 Leila Cummins – 1st in Inter Girls Hammer (49.02m)
  • 🥇 Adaora Nneameka – 1st in Junior Girls 100m, 🥈 2nd in the 200m
  • 🥈 Juliet Biggs – 2nd in Senior Girls Walk
  • Dylan French – 7th in Junior Boys Shot Put
  • Aoife Callan – 7th in Senior Girls Long Jump
  • Max Clover – 8th in Inter Boys Triple Jump

A special mention also to Ronan Duggan, a current club member and PE teacher at Belvedere College, who were crowned Senior and Intermediate Cup champions at the event.

NCAA Update

In the US, Diarmuid O’Connor has qualified for the upcoming NCAA Finals, while Laura Nicholson narrowly missed out, finishing 15th in her event—just three places outside the qualifying spots. A fantastic effort from both.

Cork City Marathon – Strong Club Turnout

Plenty of Bandon AC members took on the Cork City Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K on Sunday, with several notable performances:

  • David O’Mahony – First Bandon finisher in the marathon, placing 95th overall in 2:59
  • Ben Ryan – Close behind with another strong run
  • Michelle O’Donovan – Completed the half marathon
  • Tadgh O’Donovan – Took on the full marathon
  • Juliet Biggs & Gerard O’Leary – Represented in the 10K event
