Over 900 Metres of Climbing Awaits as Run The Line Returns to Dublin Mountains This November

If you're looking for a race that offers something a little different from the usual road 10K, Run The Line might be just the challenge.

The popular trail running event returns to the Dublin Mountains on Saturday, November 14th, offering participants two demanding courses while raising vital funds for Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team.

Starting and finishing at Glencullen Adventure Park, runners can choose between a 13km or 26km challenge, with both routes taking participants through some of the most scenic and challenging terrain overlooking Dublin.

And with entries still open, there's time to get involved.

Two Distances, Plenty of Climbing

The shorter 13km route might sound manageable on paper, but with more than 400 metres of elevation gain, it's certainly no ordinary Sunday morning jog.

Those opting for the longer 26km course will face over 900 metres of climbing, navigating a mixture of forest trails, single tracks, fire roads and exposed mountainside.

Both courses offer sweeping views across Dublin city and the surrounding countryside, although participants might be too busy watching their footing to appreciate them at times.

The event caters for different abilities, with Elite, Competitive and Challenger starting waves for each distance.

Organisers have also confirmed that some minor route adjustments may be necessary following recent tree felling, although all changes will be clearly marked and marshalled.

Running for Those Who Come to the Rescue

What makes Run The Line particularly special is the organisation behind it.

The Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team is an entirely voluntary emergency service, relying on donations and fundraising to support its operations.

The event has reportedly sold out for five consecutive years, becoming one of Ireland's largest trail running races.

Entry fees go directly towards supporting the rescue team, helping its volunteers continue their work assisting people in difficulty across the mountains.

Participants will receive a technical Helly Hansen running T shirt, with refreshments including tea, coffee and soup available after the race.

There will also be hydration and food stations along both routes.

Entries Still Available

Registration remains open for the November 14th event, with the shorter 13km course priced at €60 and the longer 26km route costing €70, excluding booking fees.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and are advised to bring suitable trail running footwear, waterproof clothing and their own hydration and energy supplies.

Given the climbing involved, a bit of preparation over the next few weeks certainly wouldn't go astray.
