Test your map & compass navigation skills in the stunning Comeragh Mountains. No GPS, no marked routes – just you, your map, and the open mountain.

🏔 Race Details
✅ Distance: ~15 km (long) / ~8–9 km (short)
✅ Climb: 600 m (long) / 300–400 m (short)
✅ Difficulty: 🔴 Grade 9 – Difficult terrain, >500 m ascent, >10 km
🚩 Route Marking: None – navigation required
❌ GPS: Not allowed (only for emergencies → non-competitive result)

📋 Format
Collect a list of map coordinates & control descriptions
Plot your course using map & compass
Locate 9 controls (long course ~15 km / 600 m) or 5 controls (short course ~8–9 km / 300–400 m)
Controls marked with orange/white orienteering kites (use punch card)
Course time limit: 4 hours (back by 4 PM)
🌄 The Challenge
This is an old-school mountain navigation event – pure map & compass.
Expect heather, peat, rough upland, sheep, and maybe mist!
No fences/walls to cross, no GPS to rely on.
Just you, your wits, and the open Comeragh landscape.
