Everything You Need To Know About Next Month's Coillte 10K In Tipperary

One of Munster's most popular summer road races returns next month as Dundrum Athletic Club prepares to host the 41st edition of the Coillte 10K Road Race on Wednesday, July 1st at 8:00pm.

What began as part of a local summer festival in the mid 1980s has grown into one of the most established events on the Irish road racing calendar. Known for its flat course, fast times and renowned post race hospitality, the Dundrum race continues to attract athletes from across Ireland each summer.

This year's event will once again feature both the flagship 10K and a Junior 5K race for athletes aged 13 to 19.

A Special Guest To Start Proceedings

Dundrum AC has announced that respected athletics administrator Michael Guinan will serve as official starter for the 2026 event.

Guinan has spent decades involved in Irish athletics, managing numerous Irish international teams and helping establish St. Catherine's AC in Killenaule. He also played a major role in bringing National Senior Cross Country and Road Championships to County Tipperary and remains a familiar voice to athletics followers through his weekly athletics slot on Tipperary Mid West Radio.

Proudly Supported By Coillte

Dundrum AC is once again delighted to welcome Coillte as title sponsor.

The partnership stretches back to 1988 and remains a natural fit given the village's close connection with the forests and woodland trails developed and managed by Coillte throughout the region.

For generations of runners, walkers and outdoor enthusiasts, Coillte's trail network has become an important part of active life in Ireland, making their continued support of the race particularly fitting.

Race HQ & Route

Race headquarters will be located at the Dundrum Community Hall Centre Complex (E34 EY28), home to the club's athletics facilities.

Race numbers can be collected from 6:00pm on the evening of the event, while online entrants will also receive a custom embroidered souvenir hand towel.

The race follows a flat two lap circuit through the village and has earned a reputation as one of the fastest 10K courses in Munster.

The layout also makes it exceptionally spectator friendly. Thanks to the design of the circuit, supporters can watch runners at multiple stages of the race while remaining close to the same viewing point.

Junior 5K & Prize Categories

Alongside the main event, Dundrum AC will host its Junior 5K Road Race for athletes aged between 13 and 19.

Prizes will be awarded across all categories from Senior through to Over 70, with Masters categories divided into standard five year age bands from Over 40 onwards.

The Tim Crowe Memorial Trophy will once again be awarded to the first Tipperary athlete across the line in the 10K. The trophy, donated by Dominic Moore, was won in 2025 by Brendan Neary of Moycarkey Coolcroo AC.

A Course Built For Fast Times

The Dundrum circuit has become synonymous with quick racing.

The flat two lap route features long straight sections and has produced numerous course records and national records over the years.

The men's course record of 29:45 was set by Tanzanian athlete Daniel Gidumbanda back in 1997 and remains intact nearly thirty years later.

The women's course record belongs to Olympian Lizzie Lee of Leevale AC, who clocked 33:45 in 2021.

Four Irish national records have also been set on the Dundrum roads, including Angela McCann's F50 national record of 37:21 and Joe Gough's M70 national record of 41:10.
