Another one bites the dust.
Hot on the heels of the 2026 Belfast City Marathon selling out earlier this week, the Cork City Marathon has now officially joined the list of sell outs, just under seven months before race day. It marks another record breaking year for Cork, with places disappearing faster than a pint in Rearden’s on a bank holiday weekend.
Earlier in the week, organisers revealed that only a few hundred marathon spots remained. That announcement sparked a surge of entries, and before long, every marathon place was gone.
For anyone still hoping to run Cork next June, all is not lost. A waiting list has now opened, giving runners one last chance to secure a spot should additional places become available.
There are also entries still open for the Half Marathon, 10K, and Youth 10K (for ages 15–17), so you can still be part of Cork’s biggest running celebration.
With the Dublin Marathon ballot due to open next week, 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most competitive years yet for Irish marathon entries. If you’re planning on running one next year, best get a move on, because at this rate, standing at the start line might be tougher than the run itself.
