National marathon record holder Fergal Curtin takes to the start line of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon tonight, eyeing another big performance in Asia. The race gets underway at 8:30 PM Irish time. the small hours locally, with Curtin once again flying the Youghal AC flag in one of the most humid races on the international circuit.
Just under two months ago, Curtin put in a superb performance by slashing nearly two minutes off Peter Lynch’s national marathon record, clocking 2:07:54 in Gyeongju, South Korea. It was a gutsy run delivered in full club colours, and one that has firmly established him as Ireland’s leading marathon man heading into 2026.
